No plays today, but I do have the class that will keep me
busy until 2pm, so we've decided to
stay in town until tomorrow. My boss
does a follow up observation. As I write
this I haven't heard or seen her comments but the students were complimentary.
While I'm glad I've now taught 3 full classes I've come to
the conclusion that teaching while attending evening shows is probably not the
best idea, so I may rethink that for next year.
Vicky and I spend the afternoon shopping and preparing for
the next leg of our trip, and decide to end our stay with a nice meal. We met some friendly local people who
recommended Chef Alfredo's, a gourmet Italian restaurant. Despite the efforts of the lady in the cell
phone we mange to reach it without circumnavigating the block, and we're glad
we did.
We each start with an inventive salad - mine, called the
"Signore", features strawberries, pears and blue cheese along with
the greens, accented with a mustard seed vinaigrette. It would also have had candied walnuts but I
pass those to Vicky. Her
"Gorgonzola" features the aforementioned cheese along with sun dried
tomatoes and portabella mushrooms atop a bed of romaine, with olive oil and
balsamic vinegar and of course my walnuts.
It's been a while since I've had a veal dish and with three
to choose from I opt for something new - Vitello con Carciofe which as I'm sure
you know are artichoke hearts. It also
featured tasty sun dried tomatoes and green peppercorns. I choose to have home made pasta noodles with
it. Everything melts in my north. Vicky's choice - Black and Blue Filet Mignon
- includes mushrooms and onions in a creamy gorgonzola sauce along with roasted
walnuts, also accompanied by home made noodles.
We both agree this is some of the most delicate, flavorful Italian food
we've ever had.
That should have been enough, but I can't resist a canoli
stuffed with chocolate chips and cream, while Vicky opts for a light and creamy
tiramisu. We both bring home "doggy
bags' and decide this is a fitting end to two weeks in the Cedar
City area - a mixture of inspiring
experiences and traumatic moments!
Tomorrow, to coin a phase, "Nevada
here we come, on the way to California".
