Day 46 - Thursday

Day 46 - Thursday

Another quiet day at the campsite in the meadow.  Nobody came by except a couple of kids on dirt bikes and a deer.  No, the kids were not on the deer.  It came into our meadow and was grazing for the longest time.  It knew we were here and kept looking up, but didn't seem to be afraid.  For both Vicky and me this was the highlight of our day.  Not the first deer we've seen by any means, but this one wandered into our area.  This is why we wanted to camp in remote areas.  Hopefully there'll be many more over the summer.

The day started with a potential crisis - the 12 volt water heater wasn't heating the water, and alight we'd never noticed before, labeled DSI Fault - came on.  Turning the switch off and on again cleared the light, but it came on again.  Two lukewarm showers (one each) later, I got onto the Monaco owners forum where such things get discussed, and also checked the RV owners manual.  I discovered that DSI stands for Direct Spark Igniter and that it's only used to start the 12V water heater, which works on propane.  Since I was able to get it to start after leaving it off for a while, and we did get hot water, I'm assuming (hoping?) that's the end of the matter.  Another learning experience.

Speaking of learning, I got, and accepted my formal job offer as a Virtual Instructor (yes, I know, I sound like a hologram or something) and discovered I have to take a lot of classes to learn about the virtual technology before I can teach.  This will all start next week.

Vicky and I both spent time planning out more of our summer travels and even made a couple of reservations.  I'm excited that we will get to spend a night in Meteetse, Wyoming which is where the black footed ferrets were rediscovered in the 1970s.  If you've never seen one (quite likely) and wonder why I'm so excited about them, check out www.bff.org.

I'm  writing this just before dinner, hoping that our deer friend will give us another visit, and preparing for another early night as we have more travel plans for the car tomorrow.
