Days 49 and 50 - Rain and RV Problems

Day 49 - Sunday - & Day 50 - Monday

Sunday we had originally thought to make the second visit to Wind Cave and Hot Springs, but with the forecast for rain, which turned out to be accurate, we decided to stay home.  The cats were happy to have us home as they got a lot of extra attention.  We read somewhere that human interaction is more important to cats than food, and that's certainly true of our kids.

We also had time to work on tax courses.  The IRS requires that you take 18 hours of courses each year to be able to prepare tax returns, and both of s usually do much more than that.  In fact, after today, we've both met the minimum for this year.  Not much else to tell you about today.  Even our white tailed deer friend didn't show her face!

Monday - more rain

The subtitle says most of what there is to be said, but we did have a clear period in the afternoon, and went into town.  Did a little shopping and had another of those delicious bagels, mine with jalapenos and cheese, Vicky's with cinnamon.

We did have problems with the RV today.  First we found we had a water leak in the bathroom.  It was coming from the vent, and probably indicates it needs re-sealing.  This is something I could do myself except (a) you don't want to do it when the seal is wet and (b) I don't feel safe crawling around on the roof of the RV.  We were able to remove one of the screws on the casing of the vent, so all the water came out of there and straight down the sink.  This will hopefully prevent water buildup in the ceiling.  Later we also discovered a leak in the living room which is probably from the other vent.  Fortunately we've found them and are handling it for now, slthough I couldn't loosen any of the screws on that one.

The other problem is electricity.  We have an "inverter" that performs 2 functions.  It converts 12 volt electricity to 120V to run things in the RV, and it also charges the battery (if we also press a button labeled "charge"_.  It was providing the 120V power but not doing the charging.  In fact a red light labeled "fault" was on, and reading of the manuals was no help.  After using the microwave in the evening we discovered that the batteries were down to 5% - not good!  Fortunately we still had the generator, which uses gasoline to provide 120V power but also charges the batteries.....except that it didn't charge them.

So this day ended with some prayers and hope that we could fix the problems tomorrow.
